Jets Players Already Discussing Tebow Move

avatar

According to TMZ, Jets players are already talking about Tim Tebow and what his presence with the Jets might do to their team.

Sources connected to the Jets tell TMZ … a bunch of players were working out in the gym at the Jets training facility when the news broke that Tebow had been traded.

We’re told several players got into a pretty heated conversation about the move .. with multiple Jets complaining he’s “overrated.”

But Tebow DOES have supporters … we’re told multiple players argued that he’s a good guy with real potential … and will be a good backup for Mark Sanchez.

As one player put it, “If nothing else, he will make us a more holy squad.”

Normally I would post-amble this … but in this case … here you go my darling little jackals.

“he will make us a more holy squad.”

The last thing we need is more holes.

      • avatarRevis Island Airlines says:

        Ha!

  2. avatar__fense says:

Yep, this will solve locker room issues.

    • avatarmax says:

yes it’s nice to see how his presence is already unifying the team.

Arguments are a sign of unity, right?

      • avatarJETS says:

Yes us real MEN argue with our friends all the time but doesnt mean they are fighting. This is a typical fan taking words and throwing there own spin on it. They are in the gym and testosterone is flying around so yes they prob throwing jabs at each other just like most men do. I coach football @ HS level and the JV and Var staffs throw comments at each other and argue about sports all the time but that doesnt mean we cant have an opinion or dont like each other

  3. avatarJohn says:

we want tebow we want tebow

  4. avatarJohn says:

    Timmy Tebbs and Kate Upton

    • avatarWill says:

Sanchez and Upton. Tebow and Swift.

  6. avatarJohn says:

Did you guys see that nascar race yesterday and that cricket tournament

  7. avatarspent says:

    I hope Tebow gets raped!

    • avatarDisgusted Jet Fan says:

      Umm…what?

    • avatarBatwings says:

      lol whats this about.

    • avatarJeff says:

“Raped” by the love of Jesus you mean?

    • avatarJets-Fan-4-Life says:

If you don’t like the kid that fine, but chill out with comments like this. Its real uncalled for especially since kids come to this site for information.

Bent you should remove spents comment.

    • avatarMark “The Adequate One” Sanchez says:

Funniest s*** I’ve seen in months!
I just laughed out loud and made everyone in my office look at me like I’m crazy. Thank you spent. Everyone lighten up.

      • avatardavid morgan says:

well u cant say he was holding anything back. hahaha. tell us how u really feel spent. hahaha

  8. avatarJ-bone says:

I don’t blame them for having opinions, but they should keep them to themselves. They are paid to see the good in whatever situation they are given, not complain about the bad…if he’s “overrated” than it’s they’re job to make up for it, tough….but Now that the news of this deal possibly being null and void, I wonder if this was another “mark B practice snap” ploy to get Sanchez sweating…why not, it seems like the whole organization revolves around him.

    • avatarRudibager says:

What? The players were working out in the facilities together and started talking about the consequences of acquiring Tebow on their team.

Why wouldn’t a team of players do this?

      • avatarJ-Bone says:

publicly dissmising your future teamate to TMZ? you don’t see a problem with that? right, who needs chemistry when you have opinions and big mouths, it’s a winning formula.

  9. avatarJohn says:

Nascar and cricket all day baby

  10. avatarandres reyes says:

holy squad lets do it …..j-e-t-s 4 life

  11. avatarJohn says:

    nascar baby

  12. avatarErik says:

What are the chances that the FO is just using him for the draft? MAybe trade him to get higher or something? Either way, I’m a JET.

  13. avatarRusty sanchez says:

Once people realize that tebow isn’t our backup but another piece of our offense that can do good when sharing the field with mark andconfuse opposing defenses I think more people will come around on this move

    • avatar Odovacer says:

I would be ok with it if we had given a 5th round pick by itself for him. Not a 4th/6th

      • avatarmadbacker #57 says:

you mean 46 and $5,063,750 to repay Denver for the years he was on the broncos?

    • avatar Dave TN says:

Rusty I wish I could believe it. If he was willing to be “another piece of the offense”, Denver would have KEPT him. This will be a disaster.

    • avatarjuunit says:

But he’s only ever been a QB. You’re talking about creating some unique role for him that he’s never filled before, then just assuming that he’s going to be awesome at it. Can he block? NFL players? I can almost guarantee you that he can’t. Maybe he can learn and be decent in a few years though. Can he catch? No clue. Can he take handoffs and run like a RB? No clue, he hasn’t before.

      • avatarSackDance99 says:

I guarantee you that he can block and take a hand off. Catching is a different story, but Gates was transformed into an All Pro TE and he didn’t have Tebow’s football IQ.

        • avatarjuunit says:

You can guarantee me that a QB can block NFL players? Are we being serious right now? He’s never been asked to block, but he’s going to handle the technique and hand/foot speed of NFL rushers? Come on man, that’s entirely ridiculous.

      • avatar Mark says:

Right juunit, things were too complicated for the Jets players last year. Everyone was scratching their helmets. I was hoping with Schotty gone, and the OL coach, we could simplify things – apparently not

    • avatarRevis Island Airlines says:

I hope that is addressed to both sides…the Tebow apologists need to realize this as well so the whole team can move forward around one plan. The detractors of this move are nervous that the clowns will come out of the woodwork calling for Tebow to be the starter.

      • avatarCTforNYJets says:

People were calling for Greg McElroy to be the starter. There will undoubtedly be rumblings about starting Tebow.

    • avatartesticulon says:

That would mean our FO had a clue….and it’s pretty clear to me that they do not. And never have.

  14. avatarjets69 says:

Let’s hope the snag about re-capturing his bonus kills the trade. Tebow is the worst thing that could ever happen to the Jets

    • avatarWantsTheRing says:

      Dave,
you said very succinctly what we are feeling. It’s a sad day.

  15. avatar Dave TN says:

I didn’t understand until today that I was rooting for Ringling Brothers. Honestly, the decades of mediocrity didn’t depress me as much as this foolishness.

  16. avatarjets chick says:

Merrill Hodge is a friggin clown…he said Sanchez is the most sensitive QB in the NFL

    Why I don’t comprehend. I say it’s because he’s Latin.

    • avatarRevis Island Airlines says:

Yea I’ve thought about these comments too. They all cite Sanchez getting worked up by Rex putting Brunell in practice. But if he didn’t get worked up at that time, all the haters would be saying “see he doesn’t care!” Whatever works for their argument of the day.

  17. avatarJohn says:

tebow will be amazing i guarantee 20 tds out of him

  18. avatarJohn says:

    BREAKING NEWS: SANCHEZ IS AWFUL

    • avatarJ-bone says:

agreed. I don’t see where this any worse than the Sanchez extention; we have two overrated mediocre QBs maybe there is one decent one between the both of them. enough of the whinning about poor Sanchez. He’s laughing all the way to the bank. If it takes two draft picks to kick him in the azz so be it.

    • avatarPete B. says:

hardly “Breaking News”, Ive known that for 3 years

      • avatarNick says:

So you already knew in his rookie year he was bad?
Do most people you interact with accept the dumb stuff you say?

        • avatarPete B. says:

I remember saying to my dad, while watching a game at the old stadium, I dont think this kid is gong to be good, but I hope i am wrong. It turns out, i wasnt. His offensive Line and Defense were good.

  19. avatarSoroosh says:

The Jets have officially turned into a soap opera. Can we please bring back the Hard Knocks crew for training camp?

    • avatarDisgusted Jet Fan says:

If I’m the Hard Knocks producer and the Tebow trade goes through, I’m begging the Jets to invite me. Don’t think they would though.

  20. avatarThe Ed(itor) says:

The Broncos want the JETS to pay them $5 million in bonuses they paid Tebow. If the JETS do this they are more stupid than I think and I think they are pretty dumb by trading for Tebow.

How stupid does Woody look now for not putting a dumb on his new stadium. He gets Tebow instead of Peyton.

  21. avatarandres reyes says:

if patriots got tebow the media including francesa will be talking how such a great move it is

    • avatarSoroosh says:

That’s because the Patriots don’t run a circus.

    • avatarLam Jones says:

because Brady has the track record and credibility to survive his first 3 and out, Sanchez may not.

      • avatarSackDance99 says:

If Sanchez can’t survive that then let’s cut him now and draft another QB.

        • avatar Mark says:

I could not agree MORE sackdance. If Tebow comes then we get to see if Sanchez is a man or a mouse.

  22. avatarrevisisland says:

is teb0ow officially on the team yet ?? or his the snag in his contract still going on

  23. avatarandres reyes says:

    not official yet….

  24. avatarJ-bone says:

At least we have heard the last about Giants in this town for a loooooong time, that alone almost makes this move worth it.

  25. avatarDoctorK says:

Shock Awe. Tebow as backup QB? where are we? Is this a sign of the Apocalypse?
Love the guy, but not as a QB.
I will reserve judgement until the dust settles on this deal or non-deal.
Well we guaranteed ourselves the backpages for a year.

  26. avatarfrankc says:

Denver says the Jets never read the contract fully and now the Jets mgt. is balking. what a micky mouse organization. how do they expect to attract top tier talent, coaching etc after/with this debacle. Denver’s website doesn’t even have the deal on it…what a joke
    http://www.denverbroncos.com/

    • avatarJimF says:

I imagine they wouldn’t produce the contract until the trade was agreed to- doesn’t sound ethical otherwise.I would figure the onus would be on Denver to bring it up – so I think you are being a bit moronic in your diatribe. Besides, Micky is cute.

  27. avatarjets chick says:

I loved it when the patriots mocked us for doing hard knocks and then we beat them in the playoffs hahahaha man I love my jets

  28. avatarmoogatu says:

the really sad thing about this is that the Jets have decided to flat out ignore their area of need: PASS RUSHERS. While they were courting Manning and now trading for Tebow, the Bills were busy signing Mario Williams and Mark Anderson. We are lucky the Dolphins will still suck because we are fast becoming the third best team in the AFC East, at least on paper.

  29. avatarfrankc says:

    http://www.newyorkjets.com/
now look at the Jets site…J-O-K-E

    • avatarDisgusted Jet Fan says:

Well, can’t blame them for covering the story.

But, good god, who took the awful cheerleader photos, and who prepared the graphics? Did they have an intern doing the masking? Please hire a professional photographer / graphic designer, it makes the site look like it’s the 90s.

  30. avatarandres reyes says:

nothing else works so y not bring him in?

  31. avatarjets chick says:

We run a circus because a couple players were bickering but the patriots still have spygate…how quickly we forget.

They haven’t won a Superbowl since hahaha what a joke

  32. avatarjv says:

does anyone know if the jets have to pay back $5 mill to denver how that affects the salary cap…this year or future years? this deal is bad enough giving up a draft picks and giving tebow a big cap numbers is much worse…

    • avatar Odovacer says:

My understanding of the situation is that the Jets ownership would have to pay $5 Million out of pocket basically to buy out the clause where Tebow has to pay said money if he retires, which does not make sense since he is not going to retire anytime soon. (Within two years at least)

Still, since this is all about money anyways, I am hoping $5 Million is more than the amount of seats/jerseys he would sell.

Overall it looks like the Broncos are trying to say “No Givsie backsies”.

  33. avatar carl says:

God Just Put Tebow On The Worlds Largest Stage! Only Explanation!
    http://dailyridge.com/?p=8154

  34. avatar Odovacer says:

I imagine the jets 53 man roster arguing much like the 53 above posts 0.o

  35. avatar Tk says:

Jets Chick – They were just in the Super Bowl. We haven’t been there since 69. You might wanna pipe down on all that.

  36. avatarBmay14 says:

I’m assuming Brendan or Bent might know this, but is paying out an advance on future salary common in the NFL? And is this language clear in the contract or did the Broncos have to communicate it to the Jets in negotiations? The ESPN article seems like it says both.

  37. avataroctopus farts says:

I heard Tebow always keeps a jar of mayonnaise in his locker cause likes the feeling of shoving his full hand in it while swishing it around, this may help tean unity

  38. avatarkc. says:

dont really know what to think of this. Part of me says NOT GOOD,and the other half says…….I have NO idea.

  39. avatarreality jet fan says:

Even if the trade falls through we learned we are screwed as long as woody owns the team. And tanny cant read a contract.Wow what a great team to root for

  40. avatarBK JETS says:

The deal is dead fortunately! But it just makes the JETS FO look like a bunch of attention needy idoits since the Broncos are now saying the deal was not finalized and that the JETS FO did not read the fine print before jumping the gun to make this a big headline…..Great it’s not just 1 stupid move now it’s 2….

  41. avatarWW85 says:

I didn’t think it could get any weirder after this offseason so far. This all comes down to what the Jets have to pay him. If he’s getting a backup QB salary to run the wildcat, then I’m fine with it. If he’s getting mega $$$$, then I’m not.

  42. avatarDisgusted Jet Fan says:

Twitter feeds looking promising…Jags might even be back in play.

  43. avatarPete B. says:

Although I really want this trade to happen, the jets Front OFfice is not helping the main claims that the Jets are a poorly run franchise. No matter what happends with this trade at this point, some questions need to be answered by the Jets Organization.

    • avatarLou says:

+1000 they look like clowns regardless of the outcome now.

  44. avatarPete B. says:

Faux John Madden: Broncos contend Jets read over Tebow’s contract similiar to how Mark Sanchez reads a defense.

    HAHAHAHA

  45. avatarRepete says:

Im sick of everyone bashing the Jets, the players, the front office, owner, coach, and whoever else. You aren’t true fans if you just rag on every little thing that happens good or bad. Why dont you get over the bad and focus on the season and how… things like Tebow (if the trade isn’t nullified) will improve our team because it will and im looking forward to the season. scoring more touchdowns, better wildcat, better red zone completion percentage and better unified team. J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS

    • avatarLou says:

If it makes you sick maybe you should be reading on the internet… Cause you will find this stuff on every blog or forum.

    • avatarDisgusted Jet Fan says:

We were #1 in the red zone. It’s not an area of need.

This isn’t “ragging on every little thing” – this is valid criticism on a pretty big thing.

Besides, surely you don’t expect internet forums to be overly positive on any topic.

      • avatar karl hungus says:

I do expect them to be positive…and dont call me shirley…..

  46. avatar Phil NYC says:

As a long standing Die hard Jets fan , the last time i checked its a TEAM not about pne peron. Tebow = Wildcat , that’s it , he can’t throw ball like sanchez, no competition ( indifferent as far as sanchez concerned , avg quarterback at best till this point) when we had brad smith it worked well in spots, Tebow is better than brad cause he can throw better. Overall don’t over react and as a wildcat player it’s great move , don’t know I’d give 4th for him though , maybe 5 th

  47. avatarjets chick says:

I will not the pats and billicheat are jokes and will not WIN another Superbowl no one remembers who came in second. And they lost twice to the giants c’mon.

Rex- I didn’t come here to kiss anyone’s rings.

  48. avatarJets1974 says:

LOL @ the Broncos sacrificing a virgin to get Manning.

  49. avatarJetSyd says:

reaction range from crude, pathetic to overreactons. I considered him at best a 3 year wonder as a QB and the Denver run was proof of get in the hunt and anything can happen.

I didn’t really want him BUT if Sparano and Rex think he can play multiple roles then who are we experts to argue. This fan base swings like a roll of toilet paper. We have a DRAFT with 123 picks to address needs. Sanchez is a winner who never recovered from a Ravens beat down in the first game. I believe he will be a long term answer for us at QB. He is brutally knit picked by the press – whether it is a hot dog or GQ. the guy is highly mobile, can make all the trows and has only known Scotty.

give me a break – despite all this, he has 4 playoff wins and great comeback. FO screwed team chemistry last year which gave no depth when injuries decimated the line …

I will go a long with the Tebow ride. SackDance has been a voice of reason for Jet fans for 5+ years and is today.

  50. avatarRon Jeremy says:

I don’t understand what all the Tebow negativity is about..the man is tremendous athlete and teamate that will do whatever it takes to win, and he has one on every level of the game so far. It would make more sense to hate on this trade the way people are if we had a hole at Qb and the Jets were asking Tebow to fill it, but he’s only being brought in to add another dimension and threat to the offense under Sparano. You could say that it puts more pressure on Sanchez but honestly how much more pressure can this really add? he’s gonna hear the boo’s regardless if he doesn’t play up to par so he knows what he has to do to keep his job, the type of player Mark is I highly doubt he feels any threat to losing this team from Tebow. Mark and Tim can also learn alot from eachother, for example Mark can teach Tim the powers of a mexican stache, which can help Tims qb play later in his career. I also read on the internet that Tebow really likes mayonnaise and so does Mark, as well as horseback riding. The team will get along fine and who knows, maybe Tebow will adopt a couple of cromarties kids. Go Jets, Superbowl Champs ’13

    • avatarJets4lyfey says:

      yo dis funny +1

  51. avatar Tk says:

We lost to the same Giants team baby cakes

  52. avatar Phil NYC says:

As far as The argument that this will hurt Sanchez fragile mind , pleeeeaaaaaaassssssseeeeee stop , if he can’t handle this I don’t want him as quarterback , he’s a pro making millions , get over it , Just WIN

    • avatarreality jet fan says:

How do we know if eli could handle this?We dont because his franchise doesnt pull of publicity stunts

  53. avatarSackDance99 says:

No surprise that Namath pans the Tebow move on Michael Kay. I love Joe, but the negativity is wearing thin.

  54. avatarLongshot says:

The Jets FO is great — they even manage to BumbleF@#k a contract with a guy we don’t need.

  55. avatarjets69 says:

This is so embarrasing. The Jets can’t even pull off a publicity stunt. Maybe they can send Mike T to Mississippi to try to talk Favre out of retirement now!

    • avatarreality jet fan says:

      jets69 lol

  56. avatar Tk says:

I have to agree. This looks pretty bad. Jets are the laughing stock of the league at this point. There’s no two ways around it.

  57. avatarJayGo says:

Tebowing now that the deal dies . . .

  58. avatarjets chick says:

Not twice in a Superbowl jackass

And you guys might just get your wish and not have tebow smh unless we pay the 5mil

  59. avatarreality jet fan says:

Poor sanchez that draftday when the jets called him and he smiled and pumped his fist he had no idea he was joining the circus

  60. avatarLam Jones says:

as embarassing as it is, we were 8-8 last year. I remember Kotite, then we were the laughing stock of the league.

  61. avatar Phil NYC says:

We should be screaming as loud about the Jets not having a RT , nothing works if our quarterback is on his back , not even running game

  62. avatar Tk says:

Is profanity necessary? I’m only clearly pointing out that you have no idea what you’re talking about sweet cheeks.

    • avatarDisgusted Jet Fan says:

Condescending names like “sweet cheeks” are just as bad as profanity.

  63. avatar Odovacer says:

If this fine print allows us to give them a 5th round pick due to renegotiations, fine. I would be ok with having Tebow on the team for a 5th round pick.

Thats still against my general judgement, but maybe Sparano has a boner for Tebow, and who am I afterall? The Jets interviewed the most qualified applicants for the position, and Rex chose him. So if he wants Tebow, fine, but that does not mean you reach for him and throw away a 4th/6th. You can get some quality players in the fourth round alone (Kerley was a 5th), and with us in desperate need of depth it just makes no sense when we have two quality backups already.

All this motivating Sanchez to work harder is exactly where this is all at in my opinion.

    ****Note*****
If you hate Conspiracy Theories Omit
    *************

Mike T Goes after PM first, then fake trades for Tebow only to let the tape work tie things up and cancel the trade last minute.

Both events carefully plotted by Mr. T to scare Sanchez into playing 10% better.

Then again, a trade like this is something that would not surprise me when the Jets go into headscratcher mode.

  64. avatarLongshot says:

Sanchez’s brain should be fried by now.

  65. avatarfrustratedjetsfan says:

According to ESPN Schefter, Jax back in Tebow trade rethinking opposition to bonus money in his contract. Let’s face it, not worth $5M plus a 4th and 6th.

Don’t really know what to think, but wouldn’t be sad if it fell through we addressed needs at WR, RT, RB, FS, OLB, etc. instead.

    The soap opera continues…

  66. avatarJayGo says:

ESPN reporting “deal hits snag, could be nullified”

Back to Tebowing for that result . . .

  69. avataremmauskevink says:

    I’m about done.

  70. avatarJayGo says:

You think maybe Woody and Mr. T saw the almost uniformly negitive reaction in their fan base to Tebow, at least to the 98% that buy beer, and found a loophole to escape?

  71. avatarWilt Chamberlin says:

  72. avatar Tk says:

    So is Disgusted Jet Fan….

  73. avatarandres reyes says:

    latest??

  74. avatargrayfish23 says:

The so-called “loophole” in the contract is nothing of the sort. Every players’ contract is available for scrutiny by another team. It was presumably the league office that noted the Jets’ offer didn’t include the $5 million, which implies that the Jets didn’t perform the proper due diligence like everybody else. Broncos must have laughed their hindquarters off.

  75. avatarDavid says:

How does Mike Tannenbaum not look like a complete idiot after this? He didn’t read the contract until after he had agreed in principal and already leaked to the media? http://blogs.denverpost.com/broncos/2012/03/21/tebow-trade-finalized/12725/

If nothing else, Mike T is consistent. If it wasn’t for his patriots pedigree he would be still chasing ambulances around boston.

  76. avatarUgh! says:

This is a fireable offense. Too bad Woody can’t be fired.

  77. avatarfrustratedjetsfan says:

Hate to pick on Mr T but this is at least the 2nd contract screw up by him. The first was when they left the Saints a loophole in the Wilma trade. He was drafted 12th overall in 2004, traded for a 4th rounder in 2008 conditional 3rd in 2009, but the Jets were screwed when the Saints let Wilma go for a minute immediately resigned him.

  78. avatarUgh! says:
